About Shirley Wellstead

Welcome to Shirley Wellstead Art. With a variety of wild and domestic animals, landscapes and mystical themes, Shirley excels in creating vibrant acrylic art that captures the essence of all her subjects, right down to the finest detail.

Originals are available at our website www.inthenow.co.uk

Shirley Wellstead has been painting since the 1980s - initially in oils and for friends. In the late 1990s she started using acrylics and specialist silk paints. While working for a New Homes builder she had several commissions using acrylic on canvas and specialist paints on silk. These were painted in Abstract and Impressionist styles for both Show Home Designers and home buyers.

All of Shirley's paintings are now in quality acrylics which she feels best suits her personality. Since moving to Glastonbury, England with husband Ken, the feel of the magical place has further enhanced her creativity. Her love of animals is also clear to see as they appear in most of her paintings.

Shirley has been showcased in multiple exhibitions in the UK including the Glastonbury Art Collective, with Art2Art in Bristol in addition to various charity events. Most recently, she exhibited at the Bridgwater Arts Centre with a fellow artist friend.

Painting styles include Contemporary / Modern Impressionist art, Semi Abstract, Abstract Realism and Fine Art. Shirley is always open for new ideas and styles, always changing, expressing life and seeing the Love in everything through her art.

Shirley has a natural affinity with the wonderful Animal Kingdom. When she is painting, she feels a loving connection which can be seen in her work. Just look at the eyes! Shirley paints wild and domestic animals and they appear in the majority of her paintings.
